Minnie and Delaney are a matched set of sisters who were two of the 23 kittens rescued from the hoarding house in Sheraden when they were just tiny beans. Nearly all the kittens and even some of the adults suffered from malnutrition, and because they were underweight and weakened by inadequate food and care, we lost a few, despite all the critical care we gave them.
Minnie and Delaney not only survived, they thrived! One of our fosters was inspired to write a poem in rhyming couplets about them! We’ll let that serve as their description. More photos at the end.
We are 16 weeks old. We are chipped, and fixed with shots.
We always use our litter box. We know the do’s and do-not’s
We both are female with short hair, Minnie is black and white.
I, Delaney, am white and grey. We really are a sight!
They say that we are ‘bonded’. We love snuggles, hugs and pets.
If you’re looking for affectionate we are surely your best bets!
During the day we wrestle, Explore and run and play
I am much more outgoing than Minnie, but that’s OK!
They say that I’m the leader and Minnie follows me
But I say we’re a team Minnie and Delaney!
I can climb on my tree and scratch on my post
but to tell you the truth its milk rings I love most!
We can spend countless hours playing inside a box
We love jingle balls and plushies and sometimes even socks!!
Minnie has a favorite toy too, it’s a plushy bumble bee!
She chases is around the house, even takes it in our tree
We love other kitties, we even love dogs
When it comes to Iams and Friskies, we both eat like hogs!!
We are fearful of things like vacuums and small kids can be scary and loud
But if your home is the right fit for us we promise to make you proud!
We would love to be adopted. We’re quite a pair, it’s true.
And that’s why they call us Thing One and Thing Two!
Will you be our human? Give us more than a glance?
You will not be disappointed if you just give us a chance.
We’d love to be your kittens. To grow and learn and nap.

Other ways you can help
Amazon Wish Lists
Many rescuers pay out of pocket for veterinary care and food but the costs of raising even the average litter of four healthy kittens is more than many people have, and many rescues have greater needs. Pittsburgh CAT has a number of wish lists that include foods for feeding neo-natal kittens like KMR, and other lists that include the best kitten foods, adult cat foods, food and materials for feral cats, and preferred toys and litter.

Can’t adopt? Foster! Can’t foster? Donate or volunteer.
There are so many ways you can help cats who need homes and care. You may not have room to adopt another cat, but can foster a cat or kitten for a few weeks. If not that, you can volunteer at a shelter or with a rescue, or donate. You do this because you love your cat, and by doing so you help all cats. No matter which of these actions you take, you help to save a life, and make life better for all cats.
- Adopt one of the cats I’ve posted here, or from any shelter or rescue near you, or from Petfinder, to open up a space for another cat to be rescued and fostered.
- Offer to foster cats or kittens for a shelter or rescue near you.
- Volunteer at a shelter or rescue.
- Find a group of volunteers who work with homeless cats and help them with their efforts.
- Donate to a shelter or rescue near you.
If you can foster kittens or adults cats to help prepare them for a forever home, please run to your nearest shelter and find a cat who needs you! Anyone can help with this effort at any level, even if all you do is donate to a shelter or rescue so they can help to pay for the food or medications needed for their foster, or the spay/neuter/veterinary care during a clinic.

This award-winning art was inspired by working in post op at the May 25, 2014 Homeless Cat Management Team TNR clinic. I’ll make a $5.00 donation to HCMT for each poster sold to help spay and neuter more cats so there won’t be so many to rescue. Quantity discounts are available if you want a stack for a clinic or event. Read more about this artwork and purchase a print of this sketch.
