Cats for Adoption: I’m Still Looking

I love sunbathing, and as long as there’s a sunny window or door I’m happy.
A few people have come to meet me, but I’m still a little shy at first and they understand, but might want to wait a while…Sigh. The purple collar is working, but very slowly.
I do enjoy it here and I’ve even gotten used to living with all these black cats (don’t tell anyone, but sometimes I’m surprised to see specks of color on myself when I bathe). But I would be so happy with fewer cats, or more humans. My human apologizes all the time for this, but we all know there is nothing more she can do. But she never sits down, so there’s never a lap! And snuggling at night, well, it’s been pretty hot so I haven’t had the chance to do that anyway.
But the things I love best are curling up on your lap, and snuggling next to you at night, and chasing toys that you toss, and having a catnip party together. I follow the sun around the house and nap when it stops somewhere. I will sit and nap by an open window all day, sun or not. I love to watch the birds at a feeder. Once I have seen visitors a few times I’m fine with them. To my surprise I have really grown to enjoy other cats, especially the nice cats here. I love my food! I have never complained about any food I’ve been given.
People have asked about “tortitude”, but that’s really not who I am. I mean, if you pull my tail or something I’m going to give it back to you. But if takes a lot to get me upset.
Really, I’m quite easy to live with. And I’m an adult, about two years old, so what you see is what you get. And Jelly Bean endorses me.

Can’t adopt? Foster! Can’t foster? Donate or volunteer.
There are so many ways you can help cats who need homes and care. You may not have room to adopt another cat, but can foster a cat or kitten for a few weeks. If not that, you can volunteer at a shelter or with a rescue, or donate. You do this because you love your cat, and by doing so you help all cats. No matter which of these actions you take, you help to save a life, and make life better for all cats.
- Adopt one of the cats I’ve posted here, or from any shelter or rescue near you, or from Petfinder, to open up a space for another cat to be rescued and fostered.
- Offer to foster cats or kittens for a shelter or rescue near you.
- Volunteer at a shelter or rescue.
- Find a group of volunteers who work with homeless cats and help them with their efforts.
- Donate to a shelter or rescue near you.
If you can foster kittens or adults cats to help prepare them for a forever home, please run to your nearest shelter and find a cat who needs you! Anyone can help with this effort at any level, even if all you do is donate to a shelter or rescue so they can help to pay for the food or medications needed for their foster, or the spay/neuter/veterinary care during a clinic.

Originals and Prints inspired by rescued cats from Portraits of Animals!

Kelly enjoys the sun on her back on the bathroom windowsill, and also likely the reflected heat from the deck roof, just below. It’s not all that warm outside, but just warm enough to have the windows open in mid-afternoon. The pussy willow is right outside the window and the dappled leaves were charming, and the blue sky beyond. Read more and purchase.
