Alley Cat Rescue’s 2023 National Community Cat Survey Will Advance the Case for TNR

The National Community Cat Survey is part of ACR’s efforts to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the current state of trap-neuter-return (TNR) programs across the United States, as well as identify key struggles faced by those who practice TNR.
MOUNT RAINIER, Md. (PRWEB) April 11, 2023 –– Alley Cat Rescue (ACR) is encouraging all individuals and groups who are involved with TNR and/or caretaking of community cats to fill out a new Community Cat Survey, which can be accessed at this link: https://forms.gle/r5HJbZhabXfPCXAdA
This survey is part of ACR’s efforts to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the current state of trap-neuter-return (TNR) programs across the United States, as well as identify key struggles faced by those who practice TNR. ACR conducted similar surveys in 2012, 2016, and 2019 and believes the data collected from this latest survey will, particularly when compared with data from the previous three surveys, provide up-to-date evidence of the efficacy of TNR in managing community cat overpopulation and health. ACR also expects the survey data to reveal some regions where caretakers and trappers experience the greatest challenges, and give insight into the root causes of those challenges.
ACR founder and president, Louise Holton explains, “We have come a long way since I started on this mission to promote TNR in 1990. Back then there were only a handful of forward-thinking groups and individuals working on implementing TNR in America. Today ACR has found nearly 6,000 and we are always working to identify more.”
ACR will close the survey in October 2023 and publish their findings in a report that will be made available on the ACR website, among other places. All survey participants will be kept completely confidential.

Great Rescues Day Book:
Portraits, Rescue Stories, Holidays and Events, Essential Feline Information, All in One Book

Each month features one of my commissioned portraits of a feline or felines and their rescue story along with a kitty quote on the left page, and on the right page the month name with enough lines for all possible dates, with standard holidays and animal-themed observances and events. Great Rescues also includes a mini cat-care book illustrated with my drawings including information on finding strays or orphaned kittens, adopting for the first time or caring for a geriatric cat, a list of household toxins and toxic plants, or helping stray and feral cats and beginning with TNR.
Each book includes also 10 sheets of my “22 Cats” decorative notepaper with a collage of all the portraits in black and white so you can make your own notes or write special notes to friends.
The portraits in this book, collected as a series, won both a Certificate of Excellence and a Muse Medallion in the 2011 Cat Writers’ Association Annual Communication Contest, as well as the 22 Cats Notepaper mentioned below.
