Beaver County Humane Society and Sponsors Team Up for Memorial Day Week Adoption Event

Aliquippa, PA – Thanks to underwriting from Diehl Automotive Group, Hancock County Savings Bank and Junction City VFW Post #128, Beaver County Humane Society (BCHS) would like to honor and say thank you to our dedicated service men and women by providing FREE adoptions for pets who are one year of age or older for members of the military starting on Tuesday, May 28 through Saturday, June 1. Service men and women can visit the BCHS animal shelter in order to participate in the Vets for Pets promotion.

Active duty, Reserve, and veterans of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and National Guard qualify for the adoption promotion. Applicants must bring a photo ID and one of the following to receive the adoption discount: Military ID, DD-214 and Driver’s License, or NGB Form 22.

Potential adopters must meet BCHS adoption requirements. To view adoptable pets and BCHS adoption policies and procedures go to www.beavercountyhumanesociety.org/adopt. The adoption promotion applies to the first 50 animals adopted by qualified applicants, limit one per household.

Susan Salyards, BCHS Executive Director says, “I could not be more grateful to our community partners who are the inaugural sponsors of this new program. And I’m so pleased that our shelter was able to develop our Pets for Vets program, recognizing the sacrifice and commitment those in the military and their families make for us daily by rewarding them with ‘furever’ friends.”

Since 1950 the Beaver County Humane Society has been committed to helping animals in the Beaver County area.  Sixty-nine years later, more than 4,000 animals receive comfort and care each year.

Great Rescues Day Book

Each month features one of my commissioned portraits of a feline or felines and their rescue story along with a kitty quote on the left page, and on the right page the month name with enough lines for all possible dates, with standard holidays and animal-themed observances and events. Great Rescues also includes a mini cat-care book illustrated with my drawings including information on finding strays or orphaned kittens, adopting for the first time or caring for a geriatric cat, a list of household toxins and toxic plants, or helping stray and feral cats and beginning with TNR.

Each book includes also 10 sheets of my “22 Cats” decorative notepaper with a collage of all the portraits in black and white so you can make your own notes or write special notes to friends.

The portraits in this book, collected as a series, won both a Certificate of Excellence and a Muse Medallion in the 2011 Cat Writers’ Association Annual Communication Contest, as well as the 22 Cats Notepaper mentioned below.
