Triumph Ocean Fish Cat Food Also Recalled for Metal Pieces, Choking Hazard
On February 14 and 15 Truth About Pet Food published a possible recall of Triumph Pet Foods Ocean Fish Formula for Cats for possible metal pieces in the food and a choking hazard, which Poisoned Pets confirmed with a phone call to the manufacturer on February 15. The product recalled is 13.2 oz cans of Triumph’s Ocean Fish Formula Cat Food , UPC 0-73657-00289-5, with a production date of August 3, 2016.
This is considered a “silent recall” because there is no information found in the usual sites: the manufacturer’s website or the FDA website. I read about it on the two sources above. Poisoned Pets carries information regarding their conversation with the manufacturer. With other “silent recalls” where a product I’ve purchased has been involved I’ve received an email from the place I purchased the food that the product had been recalled with instructions on how to return it. To date these have all been precautionary recalls without the actual product having any issues.
Pet food recalls seem to have been announced daily lately such as Wellness and Grreat Choice. In these cases the source appears to be the Simmons Pet Food packaging facility, not necessarily the manufacturer.
Customers who have questions or concerns about this pet food can contact Triumph Pet Food through their website or call them toll-free at (800) 705-2111.

I think the scariest thing is that these recalls are all coming from the companies which sell the healthiest kitty foods which drives lots of people back to the big giants which seem to be much more careful since their big scandals.
These recalls, for metal pieces and choking hazard, all seem to be coming from one packaging plant, Karen. Still not good news, but at least it’s not the quality of the food.
