I Ran Away to See the Eclipse!

Total Eclipse 2017
Total Eclipse 2017

Last Sunday I went to visit my niece and her kids in Savannah so that we could see the eclipse. Savannah was only 80% but we were closer to 100% there, and it was an adventure getting to it. I’d intended to set up posts for when I was away, but I also have an exhibit coming up this weekend (more on that in another post), and there is only so much time. I returned in a storm, and we had horrible storms that day when I had to run errands for customers and myself and then get some prescheduled work done the next day, so I’m just getting the time to post again. The great thing about the storms—the temperature will be in the mid-70s through the weekend and no rain, just perfect for an outdoor exhibit.

Denise, who has the feral colony at the top of the street (where Bowie and her kittens came from) stopped down to feed the colony here while I was away. All went well, but they’ve been keeping a close eye on my since then. right now there are six within arm’s reach. At least I’ll be coming home at night during my show this weekend!

I also got to see my favorite formerly feral fosters, Simon and Theo!

Seeing the eclipse was something I’ll never forget, visiting family, our fun adventures in finding a place that wasn’t overcast and seeing the event itself. I had no idea. I posted photos and wrote about it on my photography site, Today, “Total Eclipse 2017”.

I’ll be sharing my photos of Simon and Theo and their fur family later too. I’m looking forward to my show this weekend, and then settling into preparing for autumn adventures in creativity.

  • we had 86 purrcent totality here and while no where near as cool as your photo the eclipse was still amazing ! it was as dusk and a volunteer found a pair of glasses at the last minute and brought them in so we could all see the sun eclipsed around 3/4..then I spent the next hour watching NASA’s website and saw 100 totality in SC …NASA captured great footage…. so much for working that afternoon !!! 2024 we are supposed to be at 100…I’ll probably have moved by then !!!! ☺☺♥♥

    • Even seeing that crescent makes it real. I should look up the NASA videos, I keep hearing about them. I couldn’t video and I’d meant to ask one of the kids of they could but forgot. Even still, the three photos one minute apart kind of catches it. I don’t think anyone was working that day!
