Kitty Things: Kitty Figurines

Technically, these kitty figurines are urns. I spent a portion of today photographing these urns for Chartiers Custom Pet Cremation so we can update the website with the latest urns Deb has found to offer her families.

We have a spot to set up the urns and backdrops, but most of these photos are those taken to “turn the lights on”, to awaken and focus me to color and composition. I walk around the showroom photographing whatever I please.

It pleased me to see the black and white kitty figures especially nestled in their settings and use just the cool natural light coming in from the front window and the warm interior light to trace their shapes.

It’s not that I have any shortage at all of photos of my own cats—in fact I’m kind of deluged now that the sun has finally decided to come out! But having spent a good bit of today on these I thought I’d share them.

This is the room where you meet with Deb with your pet when you take them to her, or meet her there or however you plan your cremation. I have been to this room for that purpose nine times since I’ve been going to Deb for her services in 2006, long before I began working with her on her own business needs. The room carries a lot of memories for me, and I also use these interesting shots to show how comforting the room is.

So here are a few more images of the ones you’ve seen above. The very first Crouching Kitty photo is technically one of the ones I shot for the website, but I couldn’t decide which backdrop I liked better, the damask with the leaf pattern, as the kitty might be tiptoeing through leaves, or the velour because it looks like sand. Guess we’ll decide at some point.

Here’s another view of the white kitty who is studiously ignoring me.

This white and black kitty are the same finished bronze, and actually come in four shades, the flecked white one with a slight texture.

These two babushkas supervised my entire photo shoot. Thanks ladies!
