Welcome Cats
Welcome Cats

I had a few more from the photos I’d been studying from May, and it’s only a day into June, so I decided to go with it. Mr. Peach watches the neighborhood along with the Welcome Kitty, both of them welcoming visitors to our house. Though Mr. Peach had been an indoor-outdoor cat at his owner’s house, he didn’t mind being inside and loved looking out the windows. I think he was waiting for visitors who were naturally going to pet him. For the four months Mr. Peach was with us I photographed the heck out of him. He was big and looked squeezable and was a fun subject to study. Even though I wasn’t the house of black cats at the time, it had been a while since I’d lived with an orange boy and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Below, Kelly and Namir lounged on the bed on May 22, and I had prepared this photo then forgot to post it. The two were not at all related, but came to me together to foster and possibly rehome. Namir had been adopted first, then Kelly as a companion, but they were best friends. You can read about them in a chapter of Kelly’s story, “Who Was That Namir Anyway?”

Photos pulled “From the Archives” were taken by one or another digital camera of mine between 2002 and, well, yesterday, but usually they are older than that, and I had never had the chance to feature them. Vintage Photos are from my film archives back to 1983 when I purchased my Pentax K-1000 camera. They’re a fun way to “introduce” other members of my feline family who came and went before I began blogging, and to illustrate my feline family in general from days gone by.

I wanted not so much to paint a portrait of Allegro as I wanted to capture that moment that was so much Allegro in his quiet, understated self, having wandered around and found a warm spot in the sun, decided to drop everything and enjoy the sun while it lasted. • Some day, we’ll have a ginger kitty, but for now, we’ve got The PO’M, who is a tabby with ginger at the edges…LOL!
