Daily Sketch: WhirlyCats
Sleeping curled into each other like blades on a fan, Mewsette and Giuseppe made me think of a pinwheel spinner of sorts.
This is drawn and colored with my brush markers in one of my favorite styles, often compared with Andy Warhol’s style for his series of cats, so I call these my Warhol Cats. When I color them, sometimes the colors are random as with yesterday’s pattern made from Giuseppe, but most of the time they are in each cat’s individual colors. Way back when they were little beans I put a dab of tempera paint on one ear keeping the color consistent with each cat so I could tell them apart. I chose them at random, but as it turned out they somehow corresponded with each of the cats. You can read about them, and how they got their names, in this article.
