Daily Sketch: Spring Window

Mimi quietly settled on the windowsill in the studio on a sunny late afternoon, when the sun is best. I worked a simple, kind of abstract version of her contentedly watching out the window, the calming blue and purple and green showing in her fur, the bright yellow and pale green surrounding.

I had originally planned this to be cropped to eliminate the edges, as I’ve shown below, but once I looked at that version I decided I liked the rough edges, as above. So here are both versions.

    • Meg, it certainly can be–often it’s the finishing touch, removing all the unnecessary stuff. It was one of my early lessons, not liking anything I did until I saw it kind of framed off and it was like looking at a completely different image.
