Daily Sketch Reprise: Twisting Bath With Tailhold
Mewsette had been trying to get my attention, but no cat can go too long without bathing or napping. She suddenly began washing her hip and became completely distracted with a thorough cleaning, turning around and wrapping her tail over the edge of the table as if to hold herself in place should she risk falling off in the vehemence of her bath.
I used the brush pen with quick movements to try to imitate her movements in her bath. My signature is on the side because I worked too close to the bottom edge of the paper.

What other sketches did I share on or around this date?

Trzy Koty, 2011
Cookie, Giuseppe and Mr. Sunshine watch the evening fall on Christmas Eve.
Sketched in red conté for the holiday!
“Trzy koty” is Polish for “three cats”.
Hope you have a very merry holiday season, whichever and however you are celebrating!

Watching the Squirrel, 2012
Not one of my cats! We are watching the neighbor’s kitty at the side window watching the squirrel on the porch roof, as seen in the shadow to the right. There are so many levels of shadow in what had at first appeared to be a simple sketch that it might be confusing, perhaps not. I see him here so often, and the window is very familiar to me, so even though there’s a fair amount of detail only the kitty and the squirrel moved enough that I had to quickly sketch them, then sketch in the rest.
This is actually the same window kitty I’ve photographed a couple of times before in “Window Kitty” and “Warm November Afternoon” (I photographed him today too, but Mewsette and Bean were just a bit more beautiful).
And, incidentally, this is the very same side window and house, blue siding and all, that appear in my story Witness to a Rescue. Different kitty, but ironically enough marked very similarly.
This is the first daily sketch that has not been one of my cats. Will not be the last, though.
