Daily Sketch Reprise: Back to Back, and What Mimi Thought of It

If they’re going to sleep all over my desk, they are going to be sketched. I like the shapes they make in their communal naps, and here I could see that one strong line from Mimi to Giuseppe and back. Out came the brush pen to see if I could follow it.

I actually sketched this the other day as you see by the date, but my scanner has been having more and more problems and even scanning white paper as gray. This time it came out okay.

But Mimi says it’s time for dinner. This is what she thinks of my sketch of her and her son.

Do I have your attention?

Apparently, it’s dinnertime and I need to pay attention to that fact. When I took a photo of her instead of immediately getting up and heading for the kitchen, Mimi took further action.

Maybe this will make you pay attention.

. . . . . . .

What else was I sketching on this date?

Tandem Window Sitters

This is Mimi and Bean sitting on the narrow casement at the top of the stairs where it’s really sunny. Almost in exactly the same position, they sort of held it long enough to sketch, though obviously the tails were active.

They were silhouetted except for the light reflected on them from the pine wardrobe, and had a bit of light coming directly down on their heads and backs from the sky above. I itched to get the pastels for that pose, even charcoal with pastel washes but knew they’d never hold it long enough to even get a sketch started and markers were conveniently at hand. I did photograph it, though, so perhaps some day we’ll see this in another iteration.
