Daily Sketch: Naps, 2014
We’ve been fortunate to have a temperate summer so far, but today it was just plain hot and humid. Jelly Bean was happy to have the entire top of the wardrobe at the top of the stairs by the open window all to himself. Some air circulates there and it’s a little more pleasant than other places. At least until Giuseppe plunks his big self down in front of you and blocks the air.
I had actually intended to do a quick watercolor or pastel of these two, but my hands were sweating and I just didn’t want to hold my paper for too long. When Bean started flapping his tail I could see this interesting shape.
. . . . . . .
What else was I sketching on this date?

Loafing, 2012
That stool has been a hot spot for couples in the past few days. Today it’s Mr. Sunshine and sister Mewsette, no doubt waiting for dinner, though that is some time away.
I enjoy drawing them alone, but I really love the simple compositions they make when they are together, aware of each other though not necessarily interacting. It’s difficult to get a sketch of them before they move significantly, though. I have the beginnings of two other sketches of these two in the pages before this on in my sketch book.

Original, Print or Greeting Card from Portraits of Animals
Giuseppe must surely be absorbing some of the colors of the pens in my pen cup. I certainly thought the colors were inspiring next to Giuseppe’s black fur! Because he was sleeping I had the time to get more detail on his face than usual. Find it on Portraits of Animals.
