Daily Sketch: Dresser Gargoyle

pencil sketch of cat crouched on edge of table
Dresser Gargoyle, pencil on multi-media paper, 5" x 10" © B.E. Kazmarski

Bean crouched in the characteristic pose of a cat watching something—me putting things away. But perched as he was on the edge of the dresser with the elbows in the air, he just looked like a gargoyle.

Reminds me of a project I started a few years ago involving pencil sketches of feline gargoyles. That’s why this is in pencil—seeing him in that pose brought that idea back as if it had never gone away. Might be time to get back to those kitty gargoyles.

  • You captured his cat shape perfectly – a gargoyle, indeed!

    • Chris, thanks! He moved his head to a position I liked better and I didn’t quite catch it, but the kitty gargoyles is definitely an idea.
