Daily Sketch: Boyz at Play

ink sketch of cats playing
Boyz at Play, colored ink © B.E. Kazmarski

This is drawn in gel pen Mr. Sunshine in burgundy and guess who in green. If you guessed Giuseppe Verdi, you are correct.

Mr. Sunshine happened to see the tie to the apron I wear in my studio peeking out from under the door where it hangs on the doorknob. As we always say about fancy toys and cats, the floor is littered with toys and they play with something of mine. Sunshine was totally overwrought about this canvas tie, doing backflips and falling down to roll around with it. Then it was so good he had to run away and talk about it, coming right back to start all over again.

Giuseppe, trying to understand Sunshine’s excitement came over to help him play with it, but didn’t stand a chance.

  • It’s very difficult to do an action sketch, speed being of the essence lol. Well done. I can see the positions exactly 🙂

    • Carolyn, thanks! I did the “glance test”–just glancing at a sketch to see if my eye could pull it together in that split second, and was still having some issues. I’m glad to know it was probably just me.

  • Boyzie’s favorite toy is his own tail – cheap and convenient!

    • I had a cat like that too! And of course the Fantastic Four can play with each others’ tails.
