Daily Sketch: Boys in the Afternoon
Jelly Bean and Mr. Sunshine decided to hang out on top of the wardrobe today, looking out the window at first until Bean dozed while Mr. Sunshine indulged in a daydream (perhaps about further uses for his tools).
I had wanted to do more with this, visualizing a more complete and detailed sketch, but the first step is a quick sketch to build upon. At that point Bean yawned, got up and stretched and Mr. Sunshine sat up. End of sketch. That’s okay, I like the loose little lines in here, like the curlicue on the back of Sunshine’s neck—I know I was trying to work something out in my mind when I sketched that line, and that’s what happened to it. But those little oddities add interest to a sketch and sometimes they are surprisingly appropriate. This one is just interesting.
