Daily Sketch: Bothering Brother
Jelly Bean was trying to have a serious after-dinner sleep but Giuseppe was just goofing off and being a pest, rolling all over the bed and intentionally bumping into Bean. That’s a brother for you. A little bit later, as the rest of the family joined the two on the bed, Jelly Bean got up and put Giuseppe in his place.

One and Two Make Three, 2012
I’m running out of ideas for titles.
Mimi, Bean and Mr. Sunshine were enjoying the sun on the landing again today, a perfect arrangement for another sketch. When I sketch multiple cats—who are awake and therefore moving—I usually quickly and lightly sketch a few guidelines for each, then go back and add detail one at a time. If one gets up and moves or moves into a completely different position or posture I try to finish what I started. This sketch was no different, but they were near the end of their baths and getting ready for a nap (they are so predictable) and they basically stayed in the same places.
This is a Pilot precise fine point drawing pen, performed quite well as long as I don’t have heavy coverage where it tends to dry out.

Dirty Little Brother, 2012
Mr. Sunshine isn’t younger than Mewsette, in fact they are the same age, but she is a little bigger, and kind of a caretaker of a big sister when it comes to baths. Sunshine doesn’t seem to mind.
Working in quick, simple media again for a while, just getting lines and shapes down. This is charcoal pencil and I really enjoy that it almost looks like a crayon in the consistency of line. It’s very expressive.
