Daily Photo: We’re All Ready
I can tell I’ve had a busy week when they practically, very nearly, almost beg for a play session. Sitting at my desk I felt I was being watched. I turned around and saw this.
We haven’t had too much time for play this week as I got ready for my poetry reading and my car, which had needed some serious body work, became rather undrivable. But kitties have their needs regardless what’s happening in the world, and they know how to send me on a guilt trip. Everything is a little askew, but a game of stairway ball in the afternoon can surely be fun. And it’s also great fun to watch the human wave feather toys around as if she’s waving signal flags. Or so it seems.

Morning Mousie Mayhem, 2013
Only one thing could ever keep the Big Four Fantastic Purring Wake Up Committee from discharging its duty of good-naturedly pulling the covers off me and that would be…a mousie in the bathroom, at which point they become the Four Housecats of the Apocalypse, at least to the mousie (from Facebook this morning).

Balance, 2012
Balance: of light and shadow, of highlight and silhouette, of tiny paws on the edge of the wooden stool, of finding the perfect spot right in that sunbeam for the one minute it shines in that window at this time of the year. A perfect balance, and who better to find it than Mimi? Cats are naturally aware of all these things.

The Fab Four + 1 may be staring at you to instill guilt, but at least they’re not acting out. Or do they do that, too?
Break a leg at the reading — figuratively speaking, of course. And get well soon, automobile.
