Daily Photo: Someone’s Watching Me
From across the room, from the top of the cat tree, I turned to see…an eye watching me. Mariposa had been bathing and rolling around and trilling, then turned her head upside down and wrapped a paw over her eyes. That was apparently a ruse, as the next time I looked, there she was, keeping an eye on me. Some former feral kitty. She learned her ways with humans pretty easily.

There’s a new face in the Chewy box delivery celebration crowd. Can you tell which of the 2 long-haired housepanthers the right edge of the photo is Basil and which is Simba? I’ve been having some trouble with that myself. I think Simba knows that his urinary diet food is in that box.

Focusing on a Really Good Nap, 2021
Mr. Sunshine will not be distracted from his complete focus on a really good nap in the sun on the landing. I pestered him to open his eyes, lift his head, give me a profile, I even ruffled his fur as you can see by the extra furs all over him, but he would not be moved. If you scroll down to the featured photo at the end of this post, you’ll see Mr. Sunshine prefers a more artful aesthetic in his portrayal.

Mimi says, “Look how pretty my yard is.” We remember the days when she hunted chipmunks and mice in this yard to feed her babies. Now, she owns the place.
Waiting for Elevensies. We don’t actually serve Elevensies in this house.
Hamlet enjoys a leafy morning.
It’s a treat party with all 8 #blackcats! Auntie Denise stopped by with a big bag of Kitty Kaviar salmon treats, which we haven’t had here for years, and apparently they were very much missed. It’s kind of a skewed view, but three are on the cabinet, three are on the floor, Mimi is over by the fountain, and Basil is on the stool by the sink still trying to figure things out. Mariposa and Sienna are still a little shy, though sometimes they come out when Denise is here because they see her more often. They came to the kitchen after Denise left. Basil and Mariposa couldn’t figure out how the treats worked. You can smell them, you can see them, but when you chew on them, there’s nothing there.
Hamlet is giving this #greetercat thing a try. He had a good bath, and the view was nice, but found it was not as cozy as his box under the table. Sienna’s human punked out during our open house and didn’t get a chance to share her pretty #tortie face, but she was happy to be the #greetercat for the last day of my #openhouse.

Brotherly Bath, and a Video, 2020
Brother cats Giuseppe and Jelly Bean co-grooming, then they realize they are not only being watched, they are being videoed. Watch below!
I don’t know where this week went! This video is from Wednesday. I ran out of time for the things I needed to do that day because of unexpected other things, so of course I took a little video of the boys grooming each other, then added some music by a friend. It was a great way to practice taking video with my new camera, and I like it very much. I can focus the videos on a subject and the background softens, I don’t get awkward foreshortening if I get too close, and the lighting is as good as my camera itself can produce. I’m looking forward to many more. You have to see Mariposa in action, and Sienna and Hamlet too! And everyone else!

Can I Sleep Now? 2019
Mewsette is ready to nap, but I’m right there with that big black thing, looking at her. How is a kitty supposed to sleep under those conditions? She’s all ready, she just needs for me to take the photo and go. So I did.

Studio Window Basil, 2018
Well, who could resist such purrfection? Basil has such purrfect posture too. I took a long series of photos of him in this spot and it seems as if he’s learned to hold a pose.
From Instagram, and extras
It’s s great day when you’re a formerly feral housepanther and you’ve got your pink bizzy ball trapped in the tub.
Look at that tail! Hamlet is spectacular.

Exciting New Grocery Boxes, 2017
Maximum capacity of this box is one Jelly Bean and one Mr. Sunshine less Sunshine’s tail which apparently doesn’t fit.
Below, Basil has his very own grocery box. I can see I should get bigger boxes.
Glad to be home and off my feet for a while.
You may see a few extra photo posts for a few days. I’ve been getting so behind in posting the ones from Instagram. My plan is to share them here when I share them on IG so you get to see them somewhere near the day I took them.
This will all even out eventually! Shows and studio time make it difficult but we are adjusting.

I have to say, I do like it, Mr. Sunshine, subtle, almost abstract. I have some talented cats here. I do like the photos that show all the assets of my beautiful cats, but I also like the abstract shots that happen to have a cat in them in a very artful way. Read more and purchase.
