Daily Photo Reprise: The Secret to Kelly’s Green Eyes, 2012

Ever wonder where Kelly got those green eyes of hers?

Kelly does have very bright green eyes, especially when she sits in the sun. I would never question her natural color until today when I walked in on her in my studio…

“Oh, no,” Kelly said, “I’m found out!”

“Oh, no, my secret is out!”

“Well,” she concluded, “I can only say it pays to be an artist’s cat.”

Here’s the closeup comparison!

Don’t worry, all materials I use in the house are AP Non-toxic, meaning kids can eat or drink large amounts of them and not be hurt by them. Nothing is without its risks, but I am careful to source my art materials to smaller companies who can generally trace the origins and contents of the materials they use. And just what was I using that particular shade of green for? The leaf speckles in Daily Sketch: In Afternoon Sun.

Could you work under these conditions?

But tell me, could you work with that little face watching you? Those big round green eyes and big rounded ears? I try not to laugh but she’s so cute I can’t help it, and I don’t always get much done. It’s all Kelly’s fault.

And when she gets bored with me she can look out the window and watch the birds in the trees.

You need a feline supervisor…adopt one during Adopt a Cat Month!
