Cats for Adoption: Sweet Adelyne
Imagine, a kitty who’s dog-friendly (with the right dog) but a little particular about kitties. Adelyne is a little shy, not of a lot of people, but a lot of activities happening around her. She’s a gorgeous long-haired tabby who is very purry and affectionate and likes to sleep next to you, but the more other people and critters and noise in the mix, the less confident she is. She loves her foster people, but they happen to have a lot of kittens, because they foster. Adelyne would so like a quiet home of her own with just a few people and maybe a dog. Timid kitties like Adelyne are often overlooked, and with kittens season happening now, the chances of Addie getting enough attention to be adopted are going to be slim.
Well, hello. My name is Adelyne, Addie for short, and I’m looking for my forever home. I am an affectionate, loving 2-year old girl. I adore attention and will sleep cuddled up against you. Working from home and need a stress-break? I’m available for petting purr-breaks! Also, I am extremely beautiful (or so they tell me) with lovely soft luscious fur it is a pleasure to stroke. So, I have a lot to offer the right adopters!
But I am a really special girl, and I need a really special home — a small quiet one. Nothing big and loud, because I get frightened. I like quieter people, maybe only one or two of them. Loud people scare me, and then I would have to live under the couch like my last home. 🙁 I have a security blanket that makes me feel safe, and you can put it on the bed for me. I like to sleep on the bed with you (on my special blanket). See, I lost my mama really young. I’m still working to get over that hurt and need to feel secure and safe. I’m hoping you can be really patient with me as I settle in, so that I will feel comfortable and love you as much as I love my current foster parents.
If there is a human out there that can give me this home, I would be happy to meet you. I love my foster family but I need my own human so I don’t have to share with other cats. While other kitties scare me, a big calm dog that doesn’t take up too much space on the bed is okay. I look forward to reviewing your application. All Pittsburgh C.A.T. adoptions begin with our application. After it’s reviewed you’ll be contacted about meeting your cat or kitten. All cats have been fostered in homes and are healthy, spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccines.

Help Pittsburgh C.A.T. with kitten season!
You know that Pittsburgh C.A.T. is the rescue I volunteer with, but even when I’m rescuing cats and kittens for others they still provide support to me in the form of traps and transport, fostering, food, kitten formula, and low-cost clinic and surgery appointments. I couldn’t help anyone without their support. Rescuing adult cats to foster and adopt to a forever home can be expensive depending on their condition, but rescuing kittens is always expensive because they need complete vetting, often they are orphaned and need formula and bottle feeding for weeks, they often develop illnesses or conditions specific to young kittens and they eat A LOT. We don’t adopt kitten out until they are spayed and neutered and have all age-appropriate vaccines, so we make a substantial investment in their future.
Here’s what you can do:

Can’t adopt? Foster! Can’t foster? Donate or volunteer.
There are so many ways you can help cats who need homes and care. You may not have room to adopt another cat, but can foster a cat or kitten for a few weeks. If not that, you can volunteer at a shelter or with a rescue, or donate. You do this because you love your cat, and by doing so you help all cats. No matter which of these actions you take, you help to save a life, and make life better for all cats.
- Adopt one of the cats I’ve posted here, or from any shelter or rescue near you, or from Petfinder, to open up a space for another cat to be rescued and fostered.
- Offer to foster cats or kittens for a shelter or rescue near you.
- Volunteer at a shelter or rescue.
- Find a group of volunteers who work with homeless cats and help them with their efforts.
- Donate to a shelter or rescue near you.
If you can foster kittens or adults cats to help prepare them for a forever home, please run to your nearest shelter and find a cat who needs you! Anyone can help with this effort at any level, even if all you do is donate to a shelter or rescue so they can help to pay for the food or medications needed for their foster, or the spay/neuter/veterinary care during a clinic.
