Cats for Adoption: Superbean, Panther and Emma

Superbean, what a face!
Superbean, what a face!

These sweethearts came from a hoarding situation and have been in foster for months. Initially they went to a shelter and a couple of cats in the household tested positive for FIV. Although these four tested negative for FIV and FeLV they weren’t considered adoptable in the shelter because they had to wait at least six weeks for a retest to confirm the results and the shelter had to space to hold them. They had to have a 90 day foster then be retested.

“That was their only chance so I took six of them and we fostered for 90 days,” the humane agent said. “Couldn’t let healthy kitties not get a chance because a couple in the same home tested positive for FIV.” The kittens she took all tested negative again and are healthy, well adjusted kitties. The humane agent had her parents foster the kittens and her parents are getting so attached to them! With their age they decided they cannot keep them permanently. “It’s breaking their hearts and they asked me to reach out to my friends to help them find their happy ever after,” she said. (See update below!)

They are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and all tested negative for FIV and FeLV. They are all under a year old and are very socialized. They are great with kids, cats, dogs, and even guinea pigs! There is no adoption fee but vet references and home visit are required as with any adoption. Located in North Versailles, PA, near Pittsburgh.

“My 7 year old lovingly named them as follows:”

SuperBean ~ (at top) The tiniest kitty. She is a combination of mischief and sweetness. She will keep you laughing with her antics then snuggle up on your lap till she’s ready to play again. She is especially fond of kids and would love a family of her own.

Panther ~ Panther is magnificent with a long, fluffy tail and sleek coat earning him his name. He really does look a bit exotic. He is a lover and will curl up with you on rainy days. He adores his sister Emma and would love to stay with her but he understands they may have to go their separate ways. He has the coolest silver “feathers” around his ears giving him an even more unique appearance.

Emma ~ Beautiful Emma is a lil princess. She is dainty and graceful, poised and polished. She spends most of her time with her brother Panther and although she would like to stay with him she knows this may not be possible. She is sweet and demure and loves to people watch. When she isn’t strutting around with Panther you will find her laying with the dog who seems to enjoy her company the most.

Mikki, such a love.

Micki McFluffins ~ ADOPTED! The humane agent’s parents decided they couldn’t live without this guy! Or he couldn’t live without them. “Only because he chose my mom as his person lol. Literally follows her everywhere. He sits w her while she drinks coffee with his paw on her arm. This is one cool cat. He is very devoted and extremely personable. He would like a family who won’t mind his company for morning coffee (this is his favorite way to start the day) and afternoon naps. This boy loves his people and will join you on that long journey from the living room to the bathroom, the counter to the table, or pretty much anywhere you go. He will be great company and will love you even when you’re having a bad day.

As mentioned, these cats were taken from a humane situation and have had to stay in foster for months until the situation is investigated and resolved, and you can guess they didn’t have the best beginning. But they were rescued from that and are incredibly friendly and socialized cats with adults, children and dogs—and yes, even guinea pigs, who are also rescues so maybe they understand each other. Each of them has a little bit of floof and some unique characteristics. If you’re looking for a pair of cats who are good friends with each other, therefore keeping out of a lot of young cat trouble, but also super affectionate with people, you can adopt two spotted cats or two house panthers.

These cats are not fostered through PittsburghCAT but the humane agent works with PittsburghCAT regularly. Please contact me by email or comment on this post if you are interested in adopting.

Amazon Wish Lists

The Amazon Wish List for our group’s foster kittens.

Many rescuers pay out of pocket for veterinary care and food but the costs of raising even the average litter of four healthy kittens is more than many people have, and many rescues have greater needs. Pittsburgh CAT has a number of wish lists that include foods for feeding neo-natal kittens like KMR, and other lists that include the best kitten foods, adult cat foods, food and materials for feral cats, and preferred toys and litter.

Can’t adopt? Foster! Can’t foster? Donate or volunteer.

There are so many ways you can help cats who need homes and care. You may not have room to adopt another cat, but can foster a cat or kitten for a few weeks. If not that, you can volunteer at a shelter or with a rescue, or donate. You do this because you love your cat, and by doing so you help all cats. No matter which of these actions you take, you help to save a life, and make life better for all cats.

  • Adopt one of the cats I’ve posted here, or from any shelter or rescue near you, or from Petfinder, to open up a space for another cat to be rescued and fostered.
  • Offer to foster cats or kittens for a shelter or rescue near you.
  • Volunteer at a shelter or rescue.
  • Find a group of volunteers who work with homeless cats and help them with their efforts.
  • Donate to a shelter or rescue near you.

If you can foster kittens or adults cats to help prepare them for a forever home, please run to your nearest shelter and find a cat who needs you! Anyone can help with this effort at any level, even if all you do is donate to a shelter or rescue so they can help to pay for the food or medications needed for their foster, or the spay/neuter/veterinary care during a clinic.
