CatLadyBox Excitement!

All this is mine!
All this is mine!

I like to see quality gifts for people who love cats because I am one of those people, and I also make those things. So when a chance came up to see a subscription box for people who love cats I knew I’d like to see the whole package. CatLadyBox founder Dorian Wagner sent out an offer to our group of cat bloggers to review a box and I quickly took her up on the offer. This CatLadyBox was sent to me at no charge and I agreed to review it.

Mewsette is ready!
Mewsette is ready!

Our box arrived last Wednesday. I thought I might wait to open and enjoy the contents at my leisure but my fellow reviewers would have none of that! They followed me upstairs and insisted we do this “now”, in the middle of a busy afternoon. As I learned after I opened it, there was a reason why that only they could understand.

Open dis!
Shut up and open dis!

As with most subscription boxes CatLadyBox is delivered through the mail. It contains a collection of unique cat-themed items “curated and hand-picked by cat ladies for cat ladies”. Items may even be exclusively designed or handmade for the box, from the website:

  • cat lady necklaces, rings, bracelets and other jewelry
  • newly released and best-seller books featuring cats
  • stylish cat lover T-shirts and accessories
  • handmade cat-themed art and unique home decor
  • cat lady cards, stationery, socks, hats, tchotchkes, limited-edition pieces
Where's our stuff?
Where’s our stuff?

“We like to get our products from local and independent artists, shops and sites, because we not only want to support them, but we don’t want to send you what anyone else can get anywhere. You’re a special kind of cat lady, so you get special stuff.” As an artisan of unique, custom handmade goods, I really like that philosophy.

You're not going to make me wear that are you?
You’re not going to make me wear that are you?

“We want to redefine how the world thinks of cat ladies. It’s a good kind of crazy.” I’m not crazy about the term “cat lady” and all its connotations, but I’m all for trying to recast the term and the items in these boxes are not the sorts of things you’d associate with the image of a “crazy cat lady”.

It's a box full of stuff!

You may also recognize Dorian’s name from Your Daily Cute and Cute Transport Network so you know she’s dedicated to helping cats in need. Your purchase or subscription also supports rescue cats because 5% of profits each month are donated to cat rescues and charities. Read more about that here.

Because of the exclusive nature of some of the items only a limited number of boxes are available each month, too.

I think there's something else under here.

The service offers two levels of subscription boxes:

CatLadyBox. Each month you’ll receive 2-3 cat-themed items carefully handpicked by our team of crazy cat ladies just for you! From jewelry and shirts to home decor, books, mugs and more, these are unique things you won’t find in any regular store.

CRAZY CatLadyBox. You couldn’t possibly dream of leaving your kitties out of the fun, could you? The CRAZY CatLadyBox includes all of the crazy cat lady items hand-picked for you PLUS at least 2 surprises just for kitties! Everyone gets in on the fun!

As I learned, I received the CRAZY CatLadyBox—but obviously my fine felines knew that already!

That's what I smelled!

The post card included was a piece from the featured cat lady artist, “PrintsOfHeart”, and has information on the back about each of the items contained in the box.

This pretty package contained something for me…

Pretty!
Pretty!

…a Handmade Cat Pendant Necklace! Another necklace to wear when I’m out somewhere being a cat lady artist, made by a cat lady artist, Southergracie.

This clever little package with the CatLadyBox logo contained…

Nice packaging.

…Natural Lip Balm with Organic Catnip! Yes, they do come in for kitty kisses when I put it on, and I have to hide it in a drawer. It’s a very comfortable product, and catnip also has a calming effect on humans, for real.

And this totally cool t-shirt—I’m not a big tee fan for the most common unisex tees, but this tee is styled for ladies with a V-neck and cap sleeves…

…and it even continues on the back!

And aside from the catnip lip balm, what else had they scented inside the box? Meowmosa Omega Paw Cocktail-Inspired Treats! They were a such a hit I couldn’t get a clear photo…

Meowmosas treats.

…because this happened. All eight cats were in on the act!

This is what happened when I got the treats out.

And a new toy! An Organic Catnip Fortune Cookie from Miso Designs. This toy went to the kittens….

mmmmmmmm..................
mmmmmmmm………………

…but not until Giuseppe had a good whiff and swatted it off the cabinet.

Giuseppe snuffles the fortune cookie.

Also in the box was a tiny temporary tattoo of the logo, but someone ran off with it! It’s about 1″ square and I set it aside on the tissue paper, but it must have picked up a bit of catnip scent because I saw Bean sniffing it and then it was GONE. If I find it, I’ll wear it to my next event.

Everyone has to try out the box.

All the items were quality, well-made and attractive—or tasty in the case of a few of them.

You can purchase a single box for yourself or send as a gift, or subscribe for three or six months. Regular CatLadyBox begins at $34.99 for one box, and CRAZY Catladybox begins at $39.99 for one box. Shipping is free to the contiguous United States but it also ships of a flat fee outside of those states and to Canada and the United Kingdom. Cats not included.

They are exhausted after all the excitement.

FTC disclosure: This CatLadyBox was sent to me at no charge by the manufacturer and I agreed to review it. I did not receive any compensation for this review.

  • Vicarious fun I had “helping” you open your Crazy Cat Lady box! Where’s my credit card?

I’ll just point out that in case someone was completely enamored of the cat pendant necklace (and who wouldn’t be?), the business card indicates the artist is actually named Southerngracie — with an N. What we covet, we must find. . . .
