A Few Special Less Adoptables

Yin is looking for a home.

A friend and her neighbors have been working with a tortie Mama Kitty who appeared in their neighborhood and gave birth to two black kittens, one of whom appears above. By the time everyone was aware neither she nor the kittens belonged to anyone in the neighborhood, the two black kittens were about three months old and kind of skittish, and mama was already expecting more kittens.

Lo and behold, shortly thereafter, she gave birth to these four kittens, three solid black, at least for now, and one solid orange. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the black ones showed a few orange specks as she grew into her coat.

Mama kitty is quite friendly and is semi-long-haired, though she may grow a longer coat all over as she grows older. She and her newborns are being fostered indoors by a neighbor. They suspect she was either left behind by someone or intentionally placed in the neighborhood where several cats already live, but an owner was never found.

The neighbors will be trapping the identical “teenagers” from the first litter, Yin and Yang, to be spay/neutered and hopefully adopted, hopefully together. Yin is the friendlier of the two, and Yang is still somewhat uncertain about humans.

Mama Kitty will be spayed as soon as she can be taken from her kittens, and then her kittens spay/neutered as well. If they are not adopted they will be returned to the neighborhood and cared for outdoors by the neighbors.

Why less adoptable? They are already homeless, many of them are black, Mama is an adult, and though they are friendly, they have many strikes against them. Consider adopting! If anyone would like to adopt Mama Kitty or any of her children, please contact me and I’ll put you in touch with the people who are taking care of them all.

Did any of these kitties ever get a furever home?

    • Maureen, all were adopted. They had tried at first to keep the mom cat as an outdoor cat but she ended up being adopted through a shelter foster program.

Oh Bernadette, if I didn’t already have a full house, I’d take Momma in an instead. She’s so beautiful with her long haired tail…and you know I wouldn’t be able to take Momma without taking at least one of her babies…

I wish…that Momma and all her babies find good loving homes. Good luck to her rescuers, and God bless them for helping her and her babies.

    • Denise, they are lovely, and I’ll be helping them! I was going to tell you to wait until you saw the two today, Alex and Susan–they are a temptation!
