Vintage Photo: Sophie at the Door, 2004
Sophie observes as I clean up the front porch on a late winter afternoon.
Photographing through glass always softens things, and often odd reflections add interesting elements to the photo. Sophie was all about softness, with all that fur, and interesting elements with her babushka and dramatic eyeliner. The extra added artifacts from the glass and reflection make the photo look a little more vintage than it actually is.
For a few other “vintage photos” see last year’s post at this time, “A Morning in Late Winter, 1994”.

Wordless Wednesday: What a Sweet Face, 2012
Kelly got to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day too last year! The weather was quite warm with all the windows open and lots of sun. Here she enjoys the sunny windowsill in the bathroom, content and relaxed. Her eyes really are quite green, but in this photo they get an extra boost from the sun reflecting off that mint green sink, directly below her.
Kelly has such delicate little features, that tiny little nose and whisker pads, and those short whiskers, and with her markings it is even more of a challenge to capture them because her face is nearly all black but for a few speckles.

Oh, Brother! 2014
“Oh, brother!” says Jelly Bean as he snuggles up to Giuseppe.
Jelly Bean just can’t get close enough to his brother, Giuseppe. Giuseppe apparently thinks he’s quite close enough.
“Oh, brother,” Giuseppe mumbles sotto voce.

My Toy, 2013
Someone’s been hitting the ‘nip lately, literally and figuratively. And actually shredding a few of the toys.
Mr. Sunshine knows I wouldn’t dare take his catnip toy. And even though it’s long past Christmas and he’s still celebrating with his catnip Christmas tree, I don’t dare put it away.
He’s as cuddly as he looks, though, when he’s not kicking a catnip toy to death.

Kelly With Apples and Scale, 2012
Kelly wins the pretty award today for choosing an interesting spot to sleep and making an otherwise cluttered spot look like an elegant still life.
The sun’s angle is really beginning to move now at the vernal equinox, and all the cats are rediscovering their sunny summer spots. Kelly loves this corner of the bookcase, and while I had had it somewhat decorated over the winter I’ve started moving things around to make more room for her, hence the clutter.
