Vintage Photo: September Morning in the Garden, about 1998

 September morning in the garden.
September morning in the garden.

What’s not to love? A tangled happy garden, a sleepy happy cat, lots of color and detail and sunlight.

My garden kitty, Moses, enjoys her morning nap on the bricks in the shade of the beans, mid-morning in September. I’m fairly certain I took this in the late 90s, but it stands in for any sunny morning Moses and I enjoyed in the garden. Remembering Cookie and Namir this morning while Mimi and Mewsette and I were out hanging laundry (well, I was hanging laundry), I thought I’d bring out this photo, and one other, below. I think of all the cats who shared my garden, and the fact that Mimi and Moses were probably acquainted from Mimi visiting the garden and patio when the basement door was open, though they never lived in the house together.

“Respite” is from the same day, a little later because it’s afternoon sun, and very interesting how the colors are so saturated with this film, with a reddish cast.

I have the story of Moses as my Garden Sprite in The Garden Bean. See other photos of Moses on The Creative Cat and read the story of her rescue and life.
