Two Great Minds
My engineer and all-around fix-it cat and my charming and food-driven cat had a great idea when they discovered Emeraude had canned food in her room. I feed her a small amount of canned food at a time and I don’t like to close her in there. They are so polite that I can leave her door open and let her nip at her canned food at will, and they’ve never hopped in there and stolen it. But I caught this series of photos the other day that let me know it’s been on their mind!
I used the photos in the order I took them, and wrote the script according to the content of the photos. This little project was meant to be done yesterday but I was trying out a few new ways to make slideshow videos with narration. There are always minor things I’m unhappy about, but it tells the story just fine. You can watch it below, or click over to YouTube to watch.
And we’re still celebrating black cats!

Angus and Donal (of course) are polite and don’t snitch food, HOWEVER the more recent additions to the family (who’ve all experienced deprivation at one point of another) are QUITE willing to help themselves regardless of WHO the food actually “belongs” to… I only get involved if (a) the food is being consumed by the elder kitties, (b) the intended “mark” was recently victimized, or (c) I can sense a riot brewing.
I’m sure the boys have the good manners learned from their mama but I remember a certain Callie kitty who taught them a few tricks as well–they haven’t forgotten already?
HA! We loves this! Such good boys. We bet they were thinking that exactly! Good seeing you Emeraude! Purrs…
Colehaus Cats, the human is spoiled by such sweetness! Emeraude gives them a few choice words if they do go in there.
doodz…thiz bee like de best mewvie….fulla suspenze for sure….we gived it 983 paws up !!!
Tabbies, thanks so much! But it’s just that the boys are full of talk!
MOL. What a great movie. We hope you all got foods in the end.
Well, Paw Relations, they got kisses and pets, and later they got to eat. Not as good as treats, but treats for the heart.
That is so sweet!
Thanks, Lynda! They did all the work!
Oh that’s awesome! I love when they both looked right at you, CAUGHT! MOL
Love that movie. I bet that’s what they were thinking.
CK, those two are an open book, if anyone opens books anymore.
Goodness gracious, Bernadette, I had a book open for several hours yesterday and they were the best hours of my day!
I don’t even admit how many books I own, because I think I would be in the DSM-VI.
Me too Meg–a friend told me to Google a certain artist, I said I’d just happily go and pull out all my art history books!
Did you start with Janson?
🙂
Unbelievable that they don’t steal food. Around here it’s mealtime twice a day, cats separated by a locked door. Eat it or weep.
Hi Meg!! Sometimes these guys are sweeter than I can believe, but there it is in photos.
What good kitties. That would never happen around here. If you don’t have your face in your bowl (and sometimes even if you do) your food is up for grabs. You are lucky with a houseful of black cats that you can celebrate Cat Appreciation Day everyday. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Kitties Blue, I have become very spoiled, but all my other cats were pretty mannerly about food–though everyone always felt the foster cat’s food was fair game!
