Two Cats, One Box, and Why It’s So Hard to Get Work Done Some Days

two black cats and a box
The next variation on the box.

Once upon a time there was a box. In its  former life it had held 50 file folders, but upon setting it empty on my desk it suddenly became an enchanted box. Cats were irresistibly drawn to its perfect shape and size, finding themselves inside the box and drifting off to dreamland as if under a spell. So magic was the box that it could hold more than one cat, even though it was only the size and shape to hold 50 slim file folders.

Well, it could hold a little more than one cat, like one Jelly Bean and one-sixth of a Giuseppe.

And then magically it held a full Bean and a half of a Giuseppe.

And then by some twist of fate that Jelly Bean still hasn’t figured out, Giuseppe was sleeping in the box and he was out.

Mr. Sunshine heard about the box tried every angle he could find, but, alas, the magic box could only fit one full Giuseppe and about one-sixth of a Bean.

So he laid down next to the two and took up the rest of my desk.

All together now...

The end.

    • Layla, I have to admit it’s one of the main reasons why my desk is a mess, not just all that is on it but all that is around it–everything has to be in easy reach because I can’t get up because I have a cat on my lap, and then these guys come along with their act!

    • Savannah, it’s really wonderful to watch, especially after 30 years of rescue cats who didn’t mind being close to other cats but were certainly not this affectionate.
