Stinkbug Invasion!

Stinkbug Invasion in My Studio

Mr. Sunshine gets up close and personal as a stinkbug silently waves its legs and antennae, letting Mr. Sunshine know just what he thinks of the situation. Watch the slideshow below to see what happened next.

One of Mr. Sunshine’s friends had a run-in with a stinkbug—and she tried to eat it! Ruby’s Reflections on The Conscious Cat.

  • I’ve no idea what a stink bug is? But Mr Sunshine seems to be enamoured! lol

    • That’s funny, CATachresis, they seem to know country borders! I know you’re overseas, but even a friend in Canada, not too far north of me, had no idea what they were. We are having an “invasion” here in the States, though I’ve always had a few around coming in on my plants in the fall. They are “shield bugs” or “soldier beetles” because their backs (wings) are hard and look like a shield. They do emit a scent when they feel the need, kind of an organic fungus-like scent. I’ve heard from certain kitties that they don’t taste very good either.

  • I have been trying to purrsuade our fur-kids to eat stinkbugs. No luck so far. 🙁 They usually won’t even play with them. Any tips?

    • Peg, I think it’s genetic–you either get a kitty who’s a stinkbug killer, or one who lies around and watches them take over.

  • If Mr. Sunshine could have gotten it into his mouth after he tortured it with his nose, he would have, but it had the sense to fly up to the ceiling! He’s a walking calamity, but I think his tastes run to chewing and swallowing plastic items. Kelly is the stinkbug eater, and doesn’t seem to mind at all.

  • At least Mr. Sunshine was smart enough not to eat the stink bug!
