Peaches and Giuseppe, Sittin’ in a Tree…2010

Well, they’re on the table and they are only “holding paws”, but I know they’re awfully fond of each other—who remembers that grade school taunt?

Most of my current readers are accustomed to seeing Giuseppe cuddling with black cats, one of his relatives, but for some reason, from the time he was about a year old, Giuseppe was very fond of his little big sister, Peaches.

Peaches came to me in 2005 when she was 15; when Giuseppe and his siblings were born Peaches was 17, and she was 18 when he decided she needed to be bathed and cuddled and accompanied everywhere by a young, strong, handsome black cat full of youth and energy, and so she was. These photos were taken on this day two years ago when she was 20, and was battling renal failure; she would pass in October, and Giuseppe was with her until the end.

I wrote then:

It’s more of a grandma/grandson thing too, but Giuseppe really is vigilant about Peaches; when she has a bad day he’s right there, just hanging out with her, touching her somewhere or using her for a pillow. Peaches does like other cats but doesn’t really like to be touched by them, except when Giuseppe holds her paw.

I’ve watched this for the past year or so, this from last spring and this from last winter, and there are plenty in between, even from before Peaches went into full chronic renal failure. Since then, except when it’s been really hot, Giuseppe is always at least near her.

I know he made her last years better. Here’s the view from above, even cuter than before (that little bit of fur behind Peaches’ back is Dickie on the chair).
