New Items on Portraits of Animals

The Huntress: Intent, framed photo.
The Huntress: Intent, framed photo.

I’ve been continuing to add new products to Portraits of Animals in all the categories, so if you wonder where I’ve been now and then, that’s it. I’ve been choosing new items to ad based on daily photos and sketches hereon The Creative Cat and in nature and wildlife areas as I build pages for each of my solo exhibits through the years as their anniversaries approach, and as the seasons progress.

Often I find that art needs to be scanned again with the better quality scanner I have now, or a photo can use a better crop than the one I had originally given it. I make prints of each piece of artwork to ensure I can match the original and sometimes I purchase canvas prints or a mousepad, and work out gift items I’d create with the art. I photograph several views of even some of the artwork to provide details of a painting or sketch as well as the mat and frame, all before I build the product page.

This is time-consuming but so worth it to see my site developing into my gallery. The series of photos above featuring my little muse Mimi in the sunny overgrown corner of the garden are ones I pictured in the classic frame combination you see, and now I can offer that along with the print itself.

Framing

I don’t have framed samples of everything on the site, but I can frame any original or print with custom framing my own choice of framing, or the framing combination you see above.  I’ve set up a page that offers framing of any image on the site.

I have many images listed showing a print in a matte black frame with a plain white mat, like “The Huntress Series”, above. I buy cases of acid-free white matboard, and this 1.25″ matte black wood moulding is high quality and economical, a great combination to offer, and I often use it myself to give a piece of artwork protection in a display, and a customer can take it home and hang it on the wall immediately.

While I offer most images in various standard frame sizes to make framing easier for my customers, I don’t always create the art that size, and some works don’t fit well at all into standard sizes. This way I can offer a framing service that, even with shipping, can often save you on the cost of framing.

  • Up to 11 x 14 = add $35.00
  • Up to 16 x 20 = add $50.00
  • Up to 18 x 24 = add $65.00

I’ll be adding other options than black as well.

Other new feline artwork

Below is a gallery of new items I’ve added, felines first! All of these images can be found in my gallery of Feline Artwork or Photography > Cats

Saturday Morning Cartoons, Prints and Notecards

It’s a wonder I get out of bed with treatment like this.

“Saturday Morning” has been very popular as a print, and once I decided to add that artwork I decided to also, finally, make up that set of note cards I’d been planning.

Creative Cat Coloring Book

I’ve wanted to do a coloring book, but wanted to use art that is unique to one of my styles. The natural choice when I looked things over was one that is very popular and lends itself well to coloring, that of the black outlines with brush pen or brush marker with color fill in marker, watercolor, colored pencil, or just an all over pattern. I chose a baker’s dozen of my brush pen sketches that easily lend themselves to either loose or tight coloring, or even adding to the sketch with your own brush pen.

It’s named for this site, The Creative Cat, of course!

May 2016 Feline Sampler Box

If I was excited about my April Sampler Box, May had me on the edge of my seat waiting for recipients to receive them. I chose the selected print and cards for the season according to theme, color and cats, and have a brand new product to introduce that I’ve been considering for months. Mimi spent late nights and early mornings and hot afternoons supervising the production, packing, and keeping me calm when the printer decided to do something expensive.

In addition

This month, and for all boxes to come, I’ve decided to make a few additions permanent to the original description.

I will always add a second unmatted print that “counters” the main print in style because I have so much art it gives you a better sample of my styles.

In addition to the second print, I will likely have two note cards because I will be featuring older designs as well as brand new ones, and in this also asking for your opinion sometimes. And because of readers’ response to other art and photos on The Creative Cat and on Facebook and other social networks, I will also include an art card, greeting card or note card with a theme of nature, flowers or wildlife.

Read all about the May Feline Sampler Box, and you can still sign up for June or July.

Non-feline art and photos

I’ve been keeping the non-feline photo and art galleries going too, and reorganizing a little bit. Here are a few samples.
