New in June: A Basket of New Stuff!

black cat with basket of merchandise
Mimi says this is good stuff!
Mimi recommends you pay attention to what’s in the basket if you know what’s good for you!

That’s because it features her, and her again, and her children, and some of her Best Feline Friends ever! I’ve restocked my Etsy shop with bright new gifts and housewares for summer, supervised by my studio cats. We’ve been busy in the studio, and I’ve also been busy working out the manufacture of small quantities of a few products. You’ve been reading about a few, but others are totally new. And just for reading The Creative Cat, you get a 10% discount on everything you buy in my Etsy shop! At checkout on Etsy, please use coupon code JUNE10. Happy shopping!

A Dozen New Keepsake Boxes

Colorful Kelly Keepsake Box

Use to give a special gift, or as the gift itself for storage for small items, photos or special keepsakes.

I choose a color that coordinates with the artwork and paint each box, then print my artwork on acid-free matte-finish paper with archival waterproof inks and adhere the print to the lid and finish the bottom and lid of the box with matte-finish Modge Podge. Box insides are unfinished.

The boxes are handmade papier-mâché and may vary slightly in size and shape or have slight imperfections.

I have a dozen new individual keepsake boxes in my Etsy shop, many of them new designs and a few others on a different size or shape box including Colorful Kelly, Grape Jelly Bean, In Window Light and In Afternoon Sun. Click here to view them all.

Wood-mounted Wall Art

A Tangle of Cats at the Door

I’ve also added several new designs to my selection of wood-mounted artwork. The series “Cats After van Gogh” actually has four sketches in it, and I have all four on 4″ x 6″ x 1.5″ wood blocks, and the sides are painted a lovely cobalt blue. When I found the sketch “A Tangle of Cats at the Door” was popular I decided that would look nice mounted on wood as well, and the tiny little ink sketches fit well on little blocks, just right for an accent on a shelf or on a small wall. Mousepads

I’ve wanted my artwork on mousepads since there have been mousepads to use. I’ve tested out a few and used them here in my office and studio, and can finally offer a good product for an economical price which I can order in small quantities, and therefore offer more designs. Watch the slideshow below to see the designs including daily sketches and fine art, Warhol-esque and van Gogh, and more.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

These mousepads are 7-3/4″ x 9-1/8″ and are made from stain-resistant high density foam, nicely cushioned and just right for any type of mouse to smoothly roll over the surface.

I’ve chosen some of the favorite images from my fine art and daily sketch gallery, please browse them in my Etsy shop.

Garden Flag Designs

Of course you know about my garden flags. Eight two-sided garden flags are now available in my Etsy shop, each one a completely different style and theme to suit any garden—fine art, Impressionist, Warhol-esque and “after van Gogh”, black cats, pink cats, tabby cats and calico cats, and of course, those tortie girls!

Hand-printed “Tabbies” Summer Notecards

Bright-colored card stock and bright-colored inks, I’ve been having fun experimenting with the “Tabbies” series in different styles and colors.

These 4.25″ x 5.5″ note cards come in two different sets determined by paper color, but the four designs and five inks are randomly grouped to make each set of cards unique. They are stamped inside with “Meow”, and have matching envelopes that are stamped with fuzzy pawprints. I pack them in a clear-top stationery box—you can see more detail images on Etsy. I have four sets of each ready to go!

“Summer”, above left, has six different summery paper colors and five different ink colors, magenta, green, blue, orange and purple; each set includes one card in each color paper stock, with design and ink color randomly chosen so each set is a surprise; cards are stamped inside with “Meow” using a commercial stamp, and on the back with my information. Six matching envelopes with fuzzy pawprints stamped in the lower right corner are included. See set of six Tabbies Notecards in Summer Colors in my Etsy shop.

“Brights”, above right, has five different Astrobright paper colors and five different ink colors, magenta, green, blue, orange and purple; each set includes one card in each color paper stock, with design and ink color randomly chosen so each set is a surprise; cards are stamped inside with “Meow” using a commercial stamp, and on the back with my information. Six matching envelopes with fuzzy pawprints stamped in the lower right corner are included. See set of five Tabbies Notecards in Bright Colors

An Opportunity to Help a Shelter Before the End of June

You may have read about Odilia earlier on The Creative Cat, and about this sketch.

I have had digital prints made of this sketch, available in my Etsy shop. To further help the AWS, during the month of June 2013 which is also Adot-a-Cat Month, I will donate $5.00 out of the sale of each print to the Animal Welfare Society of Kennebunk, Maine.

Read more about the shelter, about Odilia’s foster mom Connie, about Odilia’s name and more in the original post about the sketch and the auction, Meet Blind Kitten Odilia, Win Her Sketch and Support Fostering for Shelters.

Donation Discount for HCMT

The Homeless Cat Management Team (HCMT) is raising funds for an extra free-for-ferals clinic during this year in addition to the six that are typically planned, hoping to reduce the impact of abandoned cats reproducing. A “free” clinic that serves up to 80 unowned stray and feral cats costs about $1,500 in materials. HCMT is working to raise enough to host an extra clinic and a generous donor has offered to match every dollar up to $700. They need to do this before the end of June.

I will discount the exact amount you donate from the cost of your order up to $100.

Click on the YouCaring link below and make a donation. Donate $10.00, you get $10.00 off. Donate $100.00, you get $100.00 off. If you can’t spend it all at once, you get a credit. This doesn’t include custom orders or shipping, only what’s currently in the shop.

It costs about $25.00 per cat in materials. Help spay or neuter at least one.

Click the link below to donate, and remember that your donation is doubled up to $700.

You can also go to the YouCaring.com donation page.

  • Hold up on the shipping. No point in burning any more fossil fuels than necessary. I’ve got a couple questions for you on some items and I’ll get in touch with you (probably tomorrow) via email.

  • b, you’re the best! I had already chipped in a bit towards HCMT’s fundraiser (one can’t NOT when they have such a generous matching offer). And now, coupled with your own latest dose of generosity, I’m going to send some more and hopefully check a couple (more) of your pieces off my wish list!

    • You’re the best! I saw you had donated before, and thanks! I’m packing and shipping this weekend–I got behind with a few too may things to juggle all at once, but I can hold off if necessary. Whatever it is, let me know!

  • Oh my goodness!! Such beautiful artwork!! I especially love the garden flags – what a great idea! Hope the June sale is going well and it is so nice that you are helping cats with some of the proceeds.

    • Deb, thanks so much! With the inspirations I have, how could I do less? I’m encouraging people to hurry and shop by the end of June to help cats!

  • Your Summer Tabbies Notecards are fabulous, Bernadette!
But I dare say that Mimi wasn’t making a “recommendation,” what with those squinty eyes and all. Maybe more of a Godfather “offer you can’t refuse”?

    • Well, this is what she calls it when she makes “suggestions” to me. She is always bossing me around.

      Thanks on the note cards!
