Mom, What Are You Doing Down There? 2011

Jelly Bean really isn’t the slightest bit concerned.

Mom, why are you lying on the floor down there?

You have that big black thing on your face again.

You came running up the steps talking to me, and then instead of petting me you laid down on the floor on the landing but you’re still talking and moving that black thing around.

Sometimes I don’t know what to think. Sometimes thinking is too hard anyway, but that’s another story.

Are all humans like this?

I think I’ll just have a good laugh and go back to sleep. It’s too hot to think about it right now.

  • There’s never a good time for Mama to work. We must suddenly get silly and demand some attention. I must stick my butt in Mama’s face when she’s trying to write something. Abbi must make holes in papers on Mama’s desk way early in the morning. Livia must sulk some place so Mama will stop and look for her. Why won’t are Mama’s just get a clue and realize it’s all about us? Purrs, Ateret.

    • Our human apparently decided to work at home to accommodate the feline family’s needs years ago, and they had her well trained. Now that we’ve come along, she automatically drops what she’s doing lies down on the floor to do what she does. We sometimes plan things we know will totally distract her and take a lot of this thing she calls “time”.

    • Our human is what they call a “creative person”, and she’s like this all the time. Sometimes she makes a heck of a mess and we just watch.
