Marketplace: Black Cat Collection Cabochon Pendants
One more thing I’ve been wanting to make and couldn’t wait for the studio remake because the HCMT/Pittsburgh C.A.T. Spaghetti Dinner is this Sunday!
Like so many other items, I’ve been envisioning this style of cabochon pendants with my art and photos in them for quite a long time. I hesitated to bring in one more set of parts to my overcrowded studio until I had the storage space, but these would just not wait. They are a 1″ antique brass frame with a 1″ wide by 1/4″ deep convex cabochon of clear glass. Each comes with an 18″ antique brass chain.
I purchased a set of four to try out so the only hard part was narrowing down the images to use, and, honestly, that took me days of collecting them on my computer, compiling them into contact sheets, taping them up on the wall and setting them out on my desk so I could get quick glances to see which images would work best for these tiny displays. Then this morning I had eliminated many of the images but still could not decide which to use and sent a set to some trusty friends for their opinions, and here we are with the starting set, three photos and one piece of artwork, some are cropped from these images:
These were fun to make! I hope to find more frames and cabochons before Sunday so I can make some more, and I’ll be sure to make them after the dinner too, and then I’ll add them to Portraits of Animals. I have seen both silver and solid black frames, and of course I’ll also be featuring torties and orange boys and fluffy white kitties and more! I’m making up a few other new things for the dinner too. I don’t know if I’ll get a chance to post them before then, but you’ll see then soon enough!
