People will ask which of my original works are available and the best I can tell them is to come over to my house to look at my walls—and dig through portfolios and boxes and all the little cubby holes where I have artwork stored. Sometimes I go looking and find paintings I forgot I still had.
This includes feline artwork as well as landscapes and still lifes and wildlife paintings and sketches. And if you can imagine that in the three years I did daily cat sketches I completed a little over 1,000 sketches…I have a lot of originals here.
But for people who ask it’s been impossible for me to point them to one place where they can find these works. For that reason I decided one of the galleries on Portraits of Animals is one for just original artwork. And so I went back through all the images I’ve posted on the website and tagged each of my available originals to show up in my new Available Original Art Gallery. Here you’ll find works of every subject in pastel, watercolor, acrylic, pencil, ink, oil pastel, cut paper, mixed media, all the inspirations that caused me to create an image.
I just did this last month, just in time for my annual original artwork sale until the last day of autumn, December 21, 2017:

Why spend extra money on an original when a print looks nice enough? Looking at the original work that was done by hand is very different from looking at a print. I’m careful with preparing my images for prints and they are faithful reproductions, but the original always has more depth and dimension, even though it’s a two-dimensional work. You get a piece of my inspiration when you get an original painting, one of the moments I stood on the landing and sketched Giuseppe and Jelly Bean on the bed, or when I watched the snow on the trail and tried to capture the feeling of a quiet, heavy snowfall.
Original art is a very special gift to give as well, and maybe someday they’ll even be considered an investment.
