The Homeless Cat Management Team doesn’t just provide low-cost spay and neuter clinics and assistance with trapping cats in need, HCMT also provides winter shelters for cats living outdoors and assists caretakers with donated food. You can help cats without even leaving your desk by donating to HCMT! Read the details below.

Youcaring Fundraiser for HCMT

In just a couple months the temperatures in our area will dip low, and the requests for help with providing shelters and food for homeless or community cats will begin to pour in. We need your help!

  • For $25 you can sponsor one “Winter Shelter” – this will provide 1 winter shelter that is stuffed with straw that 2 cats can share.
  • For $35 you can sponsor a “Winter Cat Care Package” – this will include 1 winter shelter and a large bag of dry food.
  • For $45 you can sponsor a “Winter Cat Care Package PLUS” – this will include 1 winter shelter, 1 large bag of dry food, and 12 cans of wet food.

We will use the money to buy materials to make the shelters, as well as buy shelters that are already made.

All shelters/food will be delivered to colony caretakers in the Pittsburgh Area.

You can also donate any amount you’d like! If 10 people donate $5 we can do 2 of the shelters! Your help is greatly appreciated! MEOW!

Helping rescued cats and kittens

Rescued kitten.
Rescued kitten.

Rescued kittens are always cute, but they’re not always ready to adopt. The fact they needed to be rescued proves that!

Most often this is what they look like when we are introduced to them. Kittens like this get the treatment they need and even when the situation seems dire they often heal completely. If they don’t, they are still as healthy as they can be and loving and adoptable even if they aren’t what most people consider perfect. We give them a chance at life that they would not have had otherwise. Help Pittsburgh C.A.T. with the costs of caring for these kittens.

We have a TON of kittens on foster and we are in need of supplies for them! Royal Canin Baby Cat Dry, Iams Wet Kitten, Purina Canned Kitten, toys, beds, Purina Kitten Dry! We need it all! As you can see, we’ve got several that will require extensive medical care and have a long road ahead of them. You’re help is greatly appreciated by our fosters! Toys, beds, etc. are also welcome! Amazon Wish Lists

The Amazon Wish List for our group’s foster kittens.

Many rescuers pay out of pocket for veterinary care and food but the costs of raising even the average litter of four healthy kittens is more than many people have, and many rescues have greater needs. Pittsburgh CAT has a number of wish lists that include foods for feeding neo-natal kittens like KMR, and other lists that include the best kitten foods, adult cat foods, food and materials for feral cats, and preferred toys and litter.

Can’t adopt? Foster! Can’t foster? Donate or volunteer.

There are so many ways you can help cats who need homes and care. You may not have room to adopt another cat, but can foster a cat or kitten for a few weeks. If not that, you can volunteer at a shelter or with a rescue, or donate. You do this because you love your cat, and by doing so you help all cats. No matter which of these actions you take, you help to save a life, and make life better for all cats.

  • Adopt one of the cats I’ve posted here, or from any shelter or rescue near you, or from Petfinder, to open up a space for another cat to be rescued and fostered.
  • Offer to foster cats or kittens for a shelter or rescue near you.
  • Volunteer at a shelter or rescue.
  • Find a group of volunteers who work with homeless cats and help them with their efforts.
  • Donate to a shelter or rescue near you.

If you can foster kittens or adults cats to help prepare them for a forever home, please run to your nearest shelter and find a cat who needs you! Anyone can help with this effort at any level, even if all you do is donate to a shelter or rescue so they can help to pay for the food or medications needed for their foster, or the spay/neuter/veterinary care during a clinic.

This award-winning art was inspired by working in post op at the May 25, 2014 Homeless Cat Management Team TNR clinic. I’ll make a $5.00 donation to HCMT for each poster sold to help spay and neuter more cats so there won’t be so many to rescue. Quantity discounts are available if you want a stack for a clinic or event. Read more about this artwork and purchase a print of this sketch.
