After a long and harsh winter spring has finally arrived and seems prepared to stay, the sun shines brightly, the air is warm, flowers bloom and trees leaf, and all the birds, animals and even insects are making up for lost time in starting their year. Whatever you celebrate on this day, from my Catholic family and friends who welcomed the sunrise during mass in their churches, my Ukrainian family and friends who carried their baskets into church to be blessed, or Jewish relatives and friends who recently celebrated Passover, and all who are celebrating the return of life on this lovely morning, have a blessed and beautiful day from our back yard to yours!
My father was Polish Catholic, while my mother observed as Ukrainian Orthodox, and I enjoyed the traditions from both. Read about that in “Pysanky” on my photo blog Today
