Bonne Fête 17 à Mlle. Daisy Emerald Marguerite!

My most exquisite beloved flower, I am looking out the big window to the northeast where you live in the cold north land, I watch the world turn to ice, I reach for the falling snowflakes and tell them to rush off on the wind and find your 12th floor balcony and brush against your windows and whisper my message of passionate amore and keep you warm on these cold winter nights.

Purrhaps you may hear my heart beat, so close you are to me now, in a city so like mine!

I sing for you my own song…

“Oh, ma dame la plus belle,
dal mio caro I desire for you to have
un buon compleanno,
 yes, joyeaux anniversaire
to my precious gemstone
my emerald-eyed goddess,
my ebony-furred French Canadian sweetheart,
I celebrate the day of your birth,
as if it were my own!”

That is my best operatic composition of a most heartfelt “happy birthday” to my everlasting love Mademoiselle Daisy Emerald Marguerite. Yes, my ever sweet and precious amour was born on this very day, the first day of the year, and I have been celebrating her existence by singing all day! What would my life be like if she had not sworn her love to me through the magic message machine and our visions in the stars!

Bonne fete, my love Mademoiselle!

You should see how beautiful she is, my, dare I say, mature love? Yes, she has lived 17 years and all this she gives to me. We began when I was an inexperienced young cat and had no idea how small my world was when ma belle mademoiselle opened my eyes and my heart to a whole new world I never would have known otherwise, and oh, I must sing again!

O! dolci baci, o languide carezze,
mentr’io fremente le belle forme disciogliea dai veli!
Svanì per sempre il sogno mio d’amore.
L’ora è fuggita, e muoio disperato!
E muoio disperato!
E non ho amato mai tanto la vita,
tanto la vita!

(Translation, from Puccini’s Tosca:

With sweetest kisses, tenderest caresses,
A thing of beauty, of matchless symmetry in form and feature!
My dream of love is now disspelled forever.
I lived uncaring and now I die despairing!
Alas I die despairing!
And never was life so dear to me, no never,
So dear, no never!)

Yes, ma chére, I sit by the big north window where I can see the whole sky and face the northwest where you live in the Steel City just north of us in the great country of Canada and dream of singing right to you.

With all my heart and soul and all that I am wishing you many more years of health and love,

Nuzzles and Purrrrrs

. . . . . . .

…Giuseppe is singing to his French Canadian belle femme, Mlle. Daisy Emerald Marguerite, whose birthday is indeed today. Giuseppe is, of course, a castrato and sings his arias and compositions in a melodic countertenor instead of the usual rich tenor, but he can improvise in operatic Italian, adding lyrics about her emerald eyes and ebony fur.

There has again been much sighing as the darkness is falling and he gazes once again out the window to the north toward Hamilton in Ontario, a city very much like Giuseppe’s home city of Pittsburgh, where Mlle. Daisy Emerald Marguerite lives with her human Mama and Papa.

A very happy birthday to Mlle. Daisy, adopted from a shelter all those years ago, this greeting from not just Giuseppe but our entire household of black cats—all seven of them! We may also mention that Mlle. was diagnosed with diabetes several years ago and has been managing her condition along with her human’s assistance in great health all that time. We all wish Mlle. many years of continued health!

And we also thank Mlle.’s kind Mama and Papa for rescuing from the shelter two eight-year-old house panthers who are brothers to keep company with Papa’s mama, on Christmas Day 2014!

And we will always include our love and good wishes for the spirit of Theo, rescued on Christmas Eve 2013.

Read about Mlle. Daisy Emerald and the long-distance affaire between the mature French-Canadian feline ladycat and the young American opera star.

They so enjoy writing florid Victorian-style letters to each other, sometimes the poets, sometimes the artists, sometimes the bonneted Mlle. Daisy Emerald and the beplumed Giuseppe Verdi in their Revolutionary roles.
