dilute calico cat on table
“Peaches and Tomatoes”! Peaches stretched on the table under the ceiling fan.

When I looked up “Stripes on Stripe”, the photo of Stanley that I posted on August 15, I had a wonderful time looking through all the photos in the folder taken on the same day. It was apparently a hot August day, but Stanley and I had been in the garden in the morning reviewing vegetables and other critters and even other insects before we spent some time on the deck. Inside Peaches stretched her entire tiny self as thin as possible on the table under the ceiling fan, above, while Cookie and Kelly enjoyed the breeze coming in the basement door, below. After that I have the photos grouped by subject. All but the heron were taken in my back yard.

Kelly watches the activity out in the garden through the basement door; a view I will long remember each time I look down the basement steps.

Cookie cleans her toes as she also spends time looking out the basement door.

Now that every device we own can take surprisingly good photos, take the time to store them in a logical way so you can find them, and I suggest using folders that group them by day or week or month so that you can go back and enjoy that morning or that afternoon or simply that time of life with your pets and other things all over again. Take the time to just randomly look through them sometime, and smile and laugh and wonder and cry over all the parts of your life you’d nearly forgotten. Enjoy the photos!

Other critters that day

bunny
Look really closely there, you’ll see a baby bunny under a tomato plant.
hawk
Red-tailed hawk soaring in the hot morning; I could have cropped closer, but I like the look of the hawk in that endless blue summer sky, and I always feel like they are leading me somewhere.
great blue heron
A great blue heron fishing in the creek when I slipped off and ran to the bank and decided to visit the creek.

Vegetables

tomatoes
A selection of tomatoes in my garden.
cabbage
One of my prize (to me) cabbages, destined for “easy” sauerkraut.
pumpkin blossom
A VERY young pumpkin!

Insects

butterfly
A skipper on the butterfly weed.
thistle
Bees feast on the pollen as the thistle down will soon become nests for the American goldfinches, and the thistle seeds their going-away gift as they migrate.
spiderweb
A smart spider stretched her web across one of the rows in my garden–apparently she’s had a lot of business!
