Daily Sketch(es) Reprise: Indigo Nap and Bath, and Mewsette and Giuseppe’s Reviews
This is Mewsette going about being Mewsette on my bed. I actually started four paintings of her, but just after beginning two of them certain brothers decided they would rather I paint a wrestling match, though Mewsette was not in the mood for that. Finally I distracted them and painted a quick bath, below, then the one of her resting, above.
These are watercolors, and when I paint them I cover the paper in more or less her silhouette, leaving little gaps of white and adding heavier coverage where there are shadows. Then I work into the silhouette while wet for the mid range tones, let it dry until it is still damp, them add the darkest areas. Sometimes I’ll use a wet brush with just water to pull the lightest areas out if they’ve accidentally been covered over, but I like to let the water flow where it will and not force it around too much.
There are areas in both that I don’t like, but overall, I like them both.
Do you have any preference? If so, let me know!

Mewsette and Giuseppe Review Sketches
What do I think of these? These are sketches of me?
Oh, please.
Mewsette takes a look at a few quick watercolor sketches I did of her the other night and lets me know what she thinks. In my defense, these were the two that were interrupted by playful brothers, so they are barely even begun. But kitties have their opinions, including Giuseppe.
And you call yourself an artist?
The paint water got more attention than my paintings.
Perhaps I’ll see if these brushes have anything more interesting to offer.
*Sigh.*
The life of an artist’s model. Everyone thinks it’s glamorous, risqué, naughty, even indecent, but when the artist is your human mom, and she’s more interested in experimenting, it’s just, well…it makes me very sleepy.
Human art critics have nothing on cats. At least they don’t sleep on your paintings.
