Daily Sketch: Three in a Bed
Mr. Sunshine, Giuseppe and Mewsette were piled in their new bed by the window all afternoon in a variety of comfortable poses just as they did when they were kittens. Yes, it was just as hard to tell them apart when I was drawing them as they appear here!
This is drawn in pastel pencil, the three colors I seem to like best for them—black, teal and red earth. Of course we know they are black and the shadows really are a dense black, but they each have a varying amount of mahogany in their fur, especially in natural daylight, and at this window their highlights look bluish. Someday I’ll have to gather together all the sketches I’ve done in this color combination.
What was I sketching a year ago today?
Not what I set out to do when I grabbed the purple colored pencil… read more about this post and this sketch.
