Daily Sketch: Sun at Sunset

The sun finally came out just before sunset. The problem with an overcast day is that nothing looks inspiring. But as soon as the sun came out, there was my painting.

Modeled by…guess who? And apparently she did not approve because, after I’d scanned it and set it on my drafting table to write up my post, she decided to walk right across it, trailing fading black pawprints, of course she stepped right in the middle of herself. Wonder if that’s a metaphor for something.

Mimi says to stop now, it’s been a long day and and I am getting delirious. It has been a long day.

What was I sketching a year ago today?

Stunning drawing however, it appears you are being punished for not allowing the sun to come out earlier. Cat’s always have a way of letting us know 🙂

Susan, thanks! It’s funny that I don’t like it on paper, but I really like it on the computer. Whatever! Mimi thinks she made the sun come out. That is her afternoon sunbathing spot and she settled into it, sun or not, and wouldn’t you know the sun came out.

I’m disappointed that you didn’t include the “collaborative” version of this (self-)portrait!
Apparently Mimi thought you had not quite captured her essence and she would help you out. . . .

Actually, the pawprints were only on other surfaces, and looking at the drawing you’d never know she’d walked on it.

She was making a point that I was paying too much attention to less-important things.
