Daily Sketch: Shopping Bag Inspector

That would be Mr. Sunshine who hops into any bag that comes into the house and thoroughly inspects all corners and edges and any items inside. He had seen me pull various types of cat food out of the canvas shopping bag, and I think he was hoping it somehow magically sprouted up from the bottom of the bag and he would find more in there and have it all to himself.

He is sometimes joined by Bean, and the phrase “There’s not enough room in this bag for both of us” is immediately in evidence. There was too much activity too fast to sketch that.

Mr. Sunshine looked so handsome and graceful, balanced on the corner of the cabinet in the bathroom. He actually stayed there while I got my drawing materials and took a quick photo. I wanted the brush lines to describe his shape from whispy to heavy. Of course, he moved his face and that was a bit difficult at this angle, but I think this one may be worth a second look from the photo I took. I can see a few other things in it too.

At least, I think there were only three; it began with two in profile, Mewsette in front and Jelly Bean behind, then Mr. Sunshine joined them. At that point there were so many ears and whiskers that I couldn’t certify there weren’t more cats there, so that was what I portrayed in this sketch, just a tangle of ears and profiles.

Enjoying the brush markers again, at least until I get a few refills for my brush pen, which has real ink and a more varied line.

That’s what they get when they sleep on my desk, they get sketched. Mewsette doesn’t think she looks silly with her ear turned flattened because her head is upside down. She’s really not concerned with what anyone thinks, or that she’s sleeping right on something I needed to be working on.
