Daily Sketch: Sanguine Nap
Guess who’s been spending time in my studio with me?
Mimi is tiny but full of purrsonality, and I find I can sketch her in many, many different styles and media. Here I have used just the side of the square conté crayon to capture her curves and outstretched arm. As I worked on another project, her strong little presence over there on my table distracted me, and I saw her shape in various media, and my eye settled on using the side of one of my drawing things, one of the many media that come in square sticks like pastels of various types, charcoal, graphite and conté crayon. Even though I found a set of hard pastels, Prismacolor Nupastels, in my cabinet of goods and decided I’d use them in place of conté sometime for the sake of the color, I settled on conté for this one, something about that sanguine color and Mimi.
What was I sketching a year ago today?
Mr. Sunshine sat on the kitchen stool taking in the warm morning light from the back door and just a little of the cool reflected light from the dining room window. It all added up to an interesting mix of colors! See the sketch and read the original post…
