Daily Sketch Reprise: Pink Twilight
The deep shadows of a summer twilight, the pink reflecting back down from the sky into the window. Mimi naps on my drafting table.
I’d been wanting colored paper to sketch on and this was another entire package I’d forgotten I had! It’s handmade 100% cotton rag cover stock with a deckled edge, made in India from 100% post consumer waste. The package has 25 colors in it, and I started at the top. I’d been eyeing this one though, waiting for the right sketch, and this is my maiden voyage to try it out and see how it works with my pastels.
I used first just the magenta soft pastel, letting the screen pattern from the paper mold carry the pastel, then adding a bright blue sketchy outline for definition and a bit of shadow. That was just enough.
When I frame this, I will mount the paper on a backing so you can see the deckled edge inside the frame.
. . . . . . .
What other sketches have I posted
Cats are generally such sticklers for being perfectly placed atop an object, whether it’s a piece of paper on the floor or your bed, but Giuseppe decided to ignore the rules and live dangerously, sitting quite off-center on the stool to look out the back door.
He apparently suffered no ill consequences from his decision.
