Daily Sketch Reprise: Kelly’s After-dinner Drink
Kelly has a nice long drink after dinner. She has always had some interesting little drinking games. She always drinks from the opposite side of the bowl and licks the water up against the side of the bowl before pulling her tongue back into her mouth. She also stands a little off to the side, often at an angle, and shuffles her feet between lapping.
In this case, of course, she moved before I was done sketching, and I wanted to fill in some of her black areas. I had her “model” by simply standing up with this side of her body facing me, which worked best when I held my pen in the air in front of her so she would face it and not me, except that I could not draw then. So I sort of moved Kelly into position, held my pen out in front of her, took a good look at her speckles, then drew a section. She was okay with this. Not so long ago she would have been highly suspicious and a little frightened by my activity. Kelly has come a long way.

How sweet! Austin does that with the lapping, but not the foot shuffling!
I’ve always loved watching their individual drinking games–and a few who played with the water, and the bowl!
