Daily Sketch Reprise: Bella Being Silly, 2015
Bella gets herself in some interesting positions—literally! She likes to hang off of things, like the wardrobe at the top of the stairs where she’s just about at my eye level. Silly girl!
This is technically the first sketch of 2015, though I didn’t have the time to scan and post it on January 1.

What other sketches did I share on or around this date?

Contact, 2014
Giuseppe just thinks he’ll have a little fun with Sunshine by sitting near a spot where Sunshine wants to pass, to be swatted by Giuseppe each time he tries. There was a bit of a wrestling match where Sunshine squealed like a mousie, then Sunshine went off and rolled around on the floor in another part of the kitchen. I will never understand their rules.

Giuseppe Bids Joyeaux Anniversaire, 2013
Joyeux Anniversaire 13 à Mlle. Daisy Emerald Marguerite! My most exquisite beloved flower, I am looking out the big window to the northeast where you live in the city named for kings in the cold north land, I reach for the falling snowflakes and tell them to rush off on the wind and find your third-story window looking out over the great St. Lawrence River and bear my message of passionate amore. I sing for you my own song…

Pink Blue Green, 2012
Three cats, once again on my studio floor, Mimi, JellyBean and Giuseppe. This is entirely in marker, all brush-tip markers. I’m growing accustomed to drawing lines with these instead of my crow-quill points, and I appreciate not needing to keep track of a bottle of ink while I’m standing and doing a quick sketch. I will soon enough do a sketch in the crow-quill so you can see the difference.
And I had a dream that I took the cap off the black marker and it was all worn down with no brush tip left at all, which is what I usually do with markers—really I did.
But I’m not happy when a brand new package of markers has a few that are already a little dried out and come out darker than they should. Well, it’s a sketch, not a masterpiece!
It may not have been a masterpiece, but it was actually the very first rendition of my brush marker-black outline-color fill kitties that came to be known as my “Warhol Cats”, just about a month after I began my series of daily sketches. I know I’d been itching to work out this style, and my failure to successfully produce a sketch like this prior to that time was one of my incentives to start my daily sketches. So here we are now, three years and at least 15 sketches later counting all the brush marker and drawing pen renditions, I guess it worked. Take a look at an archive of kitties with black outlines or “Warhol Cats”.

It’s been fun interpreting it on paper! I have no idea why you need to have all your comments approved, so I’m sorry for the delay.
