Daily Sketch: Just Fits Pattern With Color
We had a surprise heat wave today—the hottest single day of the summer and it felt hotter than that because we’ve had some sweet cool nights. Too hot for a sketch, too hot for cats to pose for me, so I decided to work up an idea I had with yesterday’s sketch. My original idea was to print them out and color them with markers so they had the same loose quality as the sketch, but…it really is too hot, so I Photoshopped this, and that was fun!
I just colored Giuseppe this time, but I’d also like to color the basket—easier with markers than in Photoshop and the quick paintbucket. I can also see different colored backgrounds…I could really go places with this. Wrapping paper! Fabric! Maybe someday, but for now it’s really fun to just play around.
What was I sketching a year ago today?

I do like this result, and I think the basket in B&W is a fine touch, leaving just the cat as the spot of color.
I like it too, Maru, especially when it’s a pattern like this.
