All five joined me in the kitchen for lunch, so I gave them a box to keep them occupied. And me too. I put down my lunch and ran to get my markers.

When they mill around like this each of them is in constant motion, and I’ll use the old jump rope analogy for how I determine when to jump in—I stand there and watch them moving around, observe what each of them is tending to do in the moment, then sketch them one by one. But sometimes, like Mewsette in the box, they move too much and end up looking vague.

So what do five cats do with one box? Mewsette is in the box while Giuseppe is checking under the flap of the box, and Jelly Bean is sitting next to the box washing there, Mimi is experiencing box envy and planning on how to get into the box, and Mr. Sunshine is looking away, acting as if he doesn’t care at all about the box.

Beautiful! We think Mr. Sunshine really was interested but wanted us all to believe he wasn’t. Purrs…

    • Yes, Colehaus Cats, you are right, though sometimes Sunshine appoints himself as guard cat while all others are just playing games. But as soon as the box opened up, he was in it.

    • Island Cats, the one box was intentional! And I forgot to mention there actually was another box, a little flat one at the other end of the table that was just sooooooo the other day. They all left that box for this new little one.

    • Layla, sharing for them is easy, sometimes they are like one big cat, and yes, one of these days I have to video the blur of black!
