Daily Photo: White Matboard and Five Black Cats…
It’s one of the reasons I can ensure “Free cat hair with every order.” Just as soon as I was on my feet it was back to work with my studio supervisors. A big, fresh sheet of creamy white matboard calls Mewsette from wherever in the house she might be and she is irresistibly drawn into its spell, falling down helplessly and rolling about in a daze. Eventually she awakens and I can distract her with something on my drafting table and I can clean off the cat hair with a brush.
But then her brothers come to visit and take up positions in likely places. Mr. Sunshine, Giuseppe and Jelly Bean look at the view from atop the new sheet of matboard.
Then Bean and Sunshine leave, Mewsette comes back and Mimi joins them.
Finally I distract them all with enticing little strips of matboard as Giuseppe shreds this one.
I clean up all the cat hair and everyone goes about their business, including me, but before I’m done putting the whole thing together, Mewsette comes back to add a bit of cat hair to the artwork. Finis!

Today the weather was nice enough to open the basement door. My camera didn’t wake up fast enough to get them all with their noses at the screen, but they were fun enough when they started milling around.

What other photos were featured on this date (and a few others I missed over the weekend)?
Catnip Party For Five, 2013
I usually set down a little pile for each of the, but I set down the first pile of ‘nip and they were on it.
All but Bean, sitting more upright at the 1:00 position, who was totally confused by the leafy dust. He loves catnip toys and even grabs my hands when I’m holding catnip, but he’s never seemed to understand that the stuff I’m holding and the stuff I put on the floor are the same thing. So Mimi at her own and his. Any son who doesn’t understand catnip doesn’t deserve to have it, she says. She’s been feeling mischievous today, even before the ‘nip.

Hearts and Hugs, 2013
Jelly Bean and Mewsette indulge in a sunny heart-shaped nap and bath. It’s just too bad my camera didn’t focus a little faster because he was washing the top of her head and it was very sweet and even more heart-shaped than it is now.
Below is a closeup of the little kitty hug. Again, sometimes it’s too bad they are black because they hug all the time and it’s just so wonderful how demonstrative they are with each other.

Sending Me on a Guilt Trip, 2013
“That’s fine, just go and leave us here with no food and nothing to do. Have a great time. We’ll still be here when you get back. Like we have any choice.”
Giuseppe, Mewsette and Mimi line up on the bed for a grand send off as I left to visit a friend for an Easter meal today. Who are they kidding? They’re going to sleep all afternoon, and if I’d been here, they’d have slept all afternoon. I was only gone four hours. Kitties!

A Situation is Developing, 2012
Jelly Bean is thinking, “Someone is watching me.”
Mr. Sunshine is thinking, “Perfect angle.”
Giuseppe is above it all.
I think Mr. Sunshine is getting Bean back for a prior incident.

Pretty, Sunny Moment, 2012
Nope, not my cats, or even real cats. Just a pretty moment from today.
I was at Chartiers Custom Pet Cremation today, not for me, just to help Deb get caught up with some work. Her place is so lovely, she takes such care with how it is arranged and lighted, music and scent, always so comforting considering the typical reason for visiting.
This is part of what is in her front window, which is always pretty and welcoming. These little figures are actually urns, at least when sold from her place, and she has them specially made by a fair-trade artisan for people who have tuxedo cats. The vintage chair painted black, the braided chair pad, the papier-mâché Kashmire tuxedo cat figures, the single line of totally appropriate lettering, the sweet warm sunlight, it was all just too good not to share.

🙂
Ah yes..this reminds me of something I’ve been meaning to discuss with you..When I received my card with the beautiful late Lady Emeraude on it..I was a bit disappointed..I read your insert that promised that free cat hair would be included in my order..although I searched everything thoroughly I could not find a single cat hair..I trust that you will make things right in my next order and I will find several black cat hairs to make up for the ones I am missing..these may come from the cat of your choice as they are all precious and beautiful..but I do feel a bit of extra affection for that little “Jelly Bean” boy..Thank you for your help in this matter and a happy april fools day to you and the gang..lol..Hugs, Nancy
Love the pics!!
Mewsette did a great job putting furs on the white canvas 😉 heehee
Bet the boys added plenty more.
Purrs Georgia and Julie,
Treasure, JJ
and Angels Tiger and Tillie
I spent more time cleaning black furs than I did framing, Georgia and Julie!
Just love those little ones. They behave like a family of kids.
Bernie, they are, and their mom is no different from the kids.
I am always amazed at your black cat photos. That one called Hearts and Hugs should have been the logo for my company, Lighthearted Press!
Chris, I have so many ideas about designs with that one! Thanks!
